Going to an event

How Tiqstar works

Three sides of the same evening — the people going, the people hosting, and the people supplying them.

It is a marketplace, not a promoter

Events on Tiqstar are run by the creators who list them. We provide the platform: the page, the payment, the ticket, and the scanner on the door. We do not book the acts or hire the venue.

That matters most when something changes. The refund policy, the line-up and the running order belong to the creator, and are shown on the event page before you buy.

For people going

Browse or search, pick a ticket type, and pay. Your seats are held while you check out and the ticket is issued the moment payment is confirmed — into your wallet and to your email.

You need an account to buy, because a ticket has to belong to someone. Browsing needs nothing.

For people hosting

Creator accounts are applied for and reviewed by a person. Once approved you build the event page, set your ticket tiers, publish, and it enters search and the category listings.

On the night you scan people in. Afterwards you withdraw what you earned to your bank or mobile-money account.

For people supplying

Caterers, photographers, sound engineers, security and the rest list their services and get booked by creators through the platform. Payment is held in escrow and released when the job is done.

Where the money goes

Payments run through Paystack, Stripe or Flutterwave depending on the currency of the event, so you pay in the money of the market it is in. Card details go to the processor and never to us.

Tiqstar takes 7% of a paid ticket, and the processor takes its own fee. Free tickets cost nothing. Whether the fee sits inside the price or is added at checkout is the creator's choice, and either way the breakdown is on screen before you pay.
