The Last Rodeo of the Black Cowboys

Don Crucifixto Entertainment in conjunction with Life Is Us presents "The Last Rodeo of the Black Cowboys" — an authentic rodeo experience celebrating the often-overlooked legacy and contributions of Black cowboys to Western culture. Set against the manicured grounds of Lagos Polo Club in Ikoyi, this is unlike anything Lagos has seen.
The afternoon unfolds across three acts:
Act I — Heritage
A documentary screening and narrated exhibition tracing the history of Black cowboys from the American West to the present day. Featuring archival footage, interviews, and an original score.
Act II — The Rodeo
- Professional bull riding demonstrations by riders from the US and South Africa
- Barrel racing and roping competitions
- Horse riding showcases featuring Nigerian polo ponies and imported quarter horses
- Western-style showmanship and trick riding
Act III — Celebration
Live country-meets-Afrobeats DJ set, BBQ cookout, and a sunset reception with the riders.
Tickets: ₦15,000 (general), ₦50,000 (VIP paddock access with meet-and-greet). Children under 12: ₦5,000. Dress code: Western-inspired.
