The Nigerian Tea Festival is the country's premier celebration of tea culture, hosted at the International Conference Centre in Abuja's Central Business District. The festival brings together tea producers from Taraba, Plateau, and Ogun states alongside international tea houses for a unique culinary and cultural experience.
Festival programme:
- Tea tasting stations featuring over 50 varieties from Nigerian highlands and international producers
- Brewing workshops: proper chai, cold brew, matcha, and traditional Hausa tea preparation
- Tea pairing masterclasses: learning to match teas with Nigerian dishes and pastries
- Cultural performances celebrating the social traditions around tea in different Nigerian communities
- Culinary demonstrations featuring tea-infused recipes: smoked tea suya rub, green tea moi-moi, hibiscus tea jollof glaze
- Children's corner with storytelling and junior tea-tasting (herbal only)
The festival also serves as a trade platform — tea producers meet with wholesale buyers, retailers, and exporters. A "Tea Startup" pitch competition awards ₦5M to the most innovative tea-based business idea.
Admission: ₦3,000 per day. Weekend pass: ₦5,000. VIP (all-inclusive tasting): ₦15,000.
